Furuno Weather Radars
WR-2120 & WR-110
FURUNO, which maintains the leading market share in marine radar, offers two X-band weather Doppler radars: the dual-polarimetric WR-2120 and the single-polarimetric WR-110. WISE Group supplies and integrates both models as part of complete environmental monitoring and squall-detection systems.
High-Resolution Presentation of Extreme Weather
With the increasing precipitation in time and intensity, weather radar is a valuable tool for predicting upcoming storms. With a high-resolution picture and Doppler technology, your team can identify the intensity and calculate the speed of the precipitation to support accurate arrival times. High-resolution images can also provide data for detailed urban drainage control, airports and helicopter traffic, and are a vital tool for forecasters.
Compact, Lightweight and Solid-State
Furuno Weather Radars utilise solid-state technology, reducing overall operating and maintenance costs thanks to low power consumption and fewer required replacement parts. Solid-state technology also provides high-precision precipitation monitoring with a wide range of signal processing and data format capabilities.
WR-2120 — Dual-Polarisation Radar
The WR-2120 is dual-polarised: it simultaneously transmits and receives pulses in both horizontal and vertical orientations. The returning frequencies provide measurements of the horizontal and vertical dimensions of detected targets, presenting high-precision echoes of the size, shape and variety of targets.
- Doppler and dual polarisation with simultaneous transmission and receiving (STAR)
- Recovers intensity loss and attenuation caused by heavy rain for increased accuracy
- High sensitivity and high spatial resolution
- Detection of rainfall and radial wind
- Classification of rainfall type, intensity, wind and turbulence
- Solid-state technology gives high reliability and low maintenance cost
- Among the lightest and most compact Doppler weather radars on the market
WR-110 — Single-Polarisation Radar
The WR-110 offers robust single-polarisation radar technology suitable for a range of meteorological applications, and is highly efficient for routine rain observations.
- Compact, lightweight and low power consumption
- High-resolution and fast scanning
- Cost-efficient and low life-cycle cost
- Perfect for stand-alone operation or “gap filling” in existing networks
Stand-Alone or Multi-Radar Configuration
Both the WR-2120 and WR-110 can be operated as a stand-alone system for local weather observations, or as part of a multi-radar system covering a wider area. Alongside other weather radars using the S-band or C-band for long-range coverage, the Furuno weather radars are a handy gap filler, using the X-band to provide significantly detailed, high-resolution weather observations within limited areas.
Choosing Between WR-2120 and WR-110
| WR-2120 | WR-110 | |
|---|---|---|
| Polarisation | Dual-polarisation | Single-polarisation |
| Best suited for | High-precision classification of rainfall type, intensity, wind and turbulence | Routine rain observation and cost-efficient stand-alone or gap-filling deployments |
| Key benefit | Recovers intensity loss and attenuation caused by heavy rain, for increased accuracy | Compact, lightweight, low power consumption and low life-cycle cost |
